WHERE IT HAPPENED…Rosarito, Mexico

Rosarito Beach, located just 30 minutes south of the U.S.-Mexico border in Baja California, is a quaint coastal town that offers a perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. Americans are drawn to Rosarito because of its affordability and proximity, offering an easy getaway just south of the border. The city’s lively nightlife, famous Baja cuisine (world-famous lobster tacos!), and relaxed atmosphere make it a favorite for those who want an easy weekend getaway.

A mini-guide on what to do in Rosarito, Mexico…

Known for its golden beaches, lively nightlife, and fresh seafood, Rosarito attracts visitors looking to soak up the sun or enjoy the region's famous lobster dishes in nearby Puerto Nuevo. Beyond the beach, you’ll find rugged trails for off-roading, world-class wine tasting in the nearby Valle de Guadalupe, and a rich local culture that blends Mexican traditions with a laid-back seaside vibe. Whether you're seeking a weekend escape or a longer getaway, Rosarito has something for everyone.

Here are some of the highlights in Bocas del Toro and the surrounding area…

Here are five things to do in Rosarito Beach, Mexico:

  1. Relax on Rosarito Beach
Enjoy the sun, sand, and surf on the main beach. You can rent lounge chairs, go swimming, or try water sports like jet skiing or paddleboarding.

  2. Visit the Rosarito Beach Hotel & Pier
Stroll along the pier for scenic ocean views or grab a drink at the iconic Rosarito Beach Hotel. It’s a historic spot and great for photos.

  3. Explore Puerto Nuevo (where all the lobster tacos are!!!)
Head to this nearby fishing village, famous for its fresh lobster served with rice, beans, and handmade tortillas. I would travel here JUST for these lobster tacos.

  4. Take a Day Trip to Valle de Guadalupe
Rosarito is close to Baja California’s wine country. Spend a day wine tasting at boutique vineyards and enjoying gourmet cuisine amidst stunning vineyards.

  5. Go Off-Roading or Horseback Riding
